Powerful and Reliable Door Motors

Few people remember a time when you had to manually open a door to enter shopping centers, hospitals, commercial buildings or public transport demonstrating how integrated into modern life automated door systems are. Not only are they convenient for users carrying heavy loads, but they mean spaces are more inclusive as well as being more energy efficient. However, automatic doors wouldn’t be possible without DC motors, which work tirelessly and often silently in the background. Everybody using automated doors expects them to open quickly, quietly and safely whilst also enabling manual overrides in the name of security should it be needed. Such fundamental requirements mean there are a number of challenges which face designers of automated doors.  The eight most common ones are:
  • Maximum Automation – In some applications, it is important that the doors are opened with minimum manual interaction, for example in kitchens or hospitals where hygiene and cross-contamination are key factors. Parvalux ensure maximum automation through highly efficient geared motors.
  • Quiet Operation – Designers need to keep the noise of the automated doors to a minimum as there’s nothing more distracting in a workplace or hospital than loud doors, especially when they are used regularly. Low-noise gearboxes and motors from Parvalux will help counter this.
  • Smooth Operation – No one feels confident walking through a door that violently slams open and shut. Parvalux motors are easily integrated with door drive control systems. Using a customized maxon positioning controller, the motor can quickly communicate to the master operating system and respond appropriately to the needs of the door.
  • Increased Efficiency – Design engineers want to make efficiency or performance improvements with little to no design effort. The flexible door automation product range at Parvalux can offer a drop-in replacement, as well as increasing performance efficiency.
  • Energy Efficiency – Automatic doors can be energy efficient by not allowing a doorway to be kept open for too long, this can mean that businesses don’t need to spend as much money on heating or cooling their workplace. Where space allows, revolving doors can be the perfect solution, allowing for a constant barrier between the outside and inside conditions.
  • Long Life-Cycle – A common challenge for engineers working on door-drive systems is taking into account the life cycle of the product. All the moving components including the geared motor require extensive testing of more than a million cycles. All the Parvalux range of geared motors are made with longevity and reliability in mind.
  • Safety – A concern for all designers is the safety of the doors, and ensuring the risk of accidents is minimized over a long period of time. The Parvalux range of DC-geared motors can all be configured with motor controllers that will ensure the safety of all users when in operation.
  • Space Constraints – Often the space allocated for the motor is small and therefore designers need to ensure the motor fits the space envelope without compromising on precision or power.
  • Integration with Sensors – Many automated door systems need to be integrated with a sensor system to enable someone to walk through safely without having to manually interact with the door. There are numerous sensor systems, and a controller can be integrated with Parvalux motors to operate smoothly with the sensor system required.
Here at Parvalux, we understand these challenges that OEMs face when designing automated door systems and have made our motors with these challenges in mind. We pride ourselves with our range of motors which are robust, reliable, powerful and more importantly durable resulting in less downtime for maintenance, repairs and upgrades. If you are in the process of designing an automated door system and want a motor that is reliable and powerful then Parvalux will have just what you are looking for. The GB80 in a geared combination can be used within multiple door applications and can be semi- or fully customized as needed to fit in with your application requirements.
