Marine Industry Challenges
The challenges faced by the marine industry are unique and include:
Corrosion – By far the biggest challenge is corrosion caused by saltwater exposure. It is essential that all windscreen wiper components are resistant to salt spray and humidity fluctuations.
Durability – The consistent exposure to UV rays, high winds, driving rain and temperature extremes including a build-up of ice on the windscreen can be detrimental to wiper components. They must be able to maintain their flexibility as well as to operate in extreme conditions without warping, cracking or seizing up.
Power and Performance – As marine vessels require larger windscreens than other modes of transport, they also require more powerful wiper motors with longer blades. Maintaining effective sweep coverage, and consistent contact with the glass can be challenging in rough seas or at high speeds.
Low Maintenance – It needs to be a straightforward procedure to maintain wiper systems, with ease of access to the components. Conversely the wiper systems need to be robust enough so that regular repair isn’t necessary.
Integration – Wiper systems need to integrate seamlessly with bridge and other navigation systems.
Noise and Vibration – Wiper systems must operate quietly and with limited vibrations especially on high-end yachts or cruise ships where noise can disrupt the comfort of the passengers.
With a rugged build quality, designed to meet and exceed marine industry standards, Parvalux’s Viper3 is capable of breaking through build-ups of ice, can shrug off salt corrosion, and operate flawlessly through wind, rain, and relentless UV exposure.
